Very cool similarities INDEED! Me too, if I were to adopt any religion, it would be Judaism (see the text at the end of this message), but I use Kabbalah instead, wich is the Technology for the Soul (that´s why it was kept so secret for so long...) You should try to discover which is your poersonal name of God, at www.72.com , it has a lot to tell us about our mission in life (tihkun). I have the book The 72 Names of God, by Yehuda Berg, that teaches us the basics of Kabbalah (that has nothing to do with beleiving, and a lot to do with Quantum Physics) and the techniques to obtain each of the 72 forms of light that are all that we need in life. I´ve been studying Astrology for 20 years now and I have some great books and authors to indicate you, mainly Liz Greene, Linda Goodman (her pocket book Star Signs is a MUST; it inludes a bit of every secret science), Suzanne White, Isabel M.Hickey and Julian and Derek Parker, just to mention the very best. Also check Eric Francis on the web (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eric_Francis and www.planetwaves.net) and http://www.bridgettwalther.com/. I am a rooster on the chinese horoscope, what´s your sign? I have a book from Suzanne White called The Double Astrology, that combines both systems, resulting in 144 possibilities. If you call me at Skype some day I can read it for you; it´s in French and translating it would be tooooooooo much typing! Another thing I can do for you (take your chance now while I am still working for free ; ) ) is prescribe you a Bach Flower Remedy based on your Natal Chart. It helps us to reconciliate our Higherselves with our Egos, their "misunderstanding" and "misfiting" is the cause of most of our problems. If you want to talk live with me my Skype (www.skype.com for free) is jampi2112 and my Google Talk GMail is jampipereira@gmail.com. Don´t forget tpo read the text below.
With love from your true and sincere friend from Brasil,

Judaism's Mission Today
I am a Jew because the faith of Israel demands no
abdication of my mind.
I am a Jew because the faith of Israel asks every
possible sacrifice of my soul.
I am a Jew because in all places where there are tears and suffering the Jew weeps.
I am a Jew because in every age when the cry of despair is heard the Jew hopes.
I am a Jew because the message of Israel is the most ancient and the most modern.
I am a Jew because Israel's promise is a universal
promise.
I am a Jew because for Israel the world is not finished; men will complete it.
I am a Jew because for Israel man is not yet fully
created; men are creating him.
I am a Jew because Israel places man and his unity
above nations and above Israel itself.
I am a Jew because above man, image of the divine
unity, Israel places the unity which is divine.
-- Edmond Fleg, "Why I Am a Jew"

What a wonderful path Judaism is!
Judaism worships a God who is the Father of all humanity, whose attributes of kindness, mercy, compassion, and justice are to serve as examples for all our actions.
Judaism teaches that every person is created in God's image and therefore is of supreme value.
Judaism asserts that people are to be co-workers with God in preserving and improving the earth. We are to be stewards of the world's resources and to see that God's bounties are used for the benefit of all. Nothing that has value can be wasted or destroyed unnecessarily.
Judaism stresses that we are to love other people as ourselves, to be kind to strangers, "for we were strangers in the land of Egypt," and show compassion to the homeless, the poor, the orphan, the widow, even for enemies, and for all of God's creatures.
Judaism places great emphasis on reducing hunger. A Jew who helps to feed a hungry person is considered, in effect, to have fed God.
Judaism mandates that we seek and pursue peace. Great is peace, for it is one of God's names, all God's blessings are contained in it, it must be sought in times of war, and it will be the first blessing brought by the Messiah.
Judaism exhorts us to pursue justice, to work for a society where each person has the ability to obtain, through creative labor, the means to lead a dignified life for himself and his family.
Judaism stresses involvement, nonconformity, resistance to oppression and injustice, and a constant struggle against idolatry.
Why should Jews be more involved in society's issues today?
1. The world faces many tremendous problems today: extensive poverty, pollution, global warming, the destruction of tropical rain forests and other ecosystems, widespread hunger, shortages of resources such as water and energy, and rapid population growth.
2. Judaism has much to say about these issues. The application of Jewish values such as those related to pursuing justice, sharing resources, exhibiting kindness and compassion, loving our fellow human beings, working as partners with God in protecting the earth, seeking and pursuing peace, and, in general, imitating God, are necessary to finding solutions to these problems.
3. Unfortunately, there has been a shift away from these basic Jewish values at a time when the world needs them more than ever before. There has been a political shift to the right in the Jewish community--a shift from prophetic values to chauvinistic values. There has been little effort to apply the Jewish tradition to the many critical problems that face the world today.
4. In the face of today's urgent problems, Jews must return to progressive Jewish values. We must remember our mission to be a light unto the nations, a holy people, a kingdom of priests, descendants of prophets, champions of social justice, eternal protesters against a corrupt, unredeemed world, dissenters against unethical systems. We must work for radical changes that will lead to a society where there is an end to oppression, hunger, poverty, and alienation. Jews must become actively involved in the missions of Jewish renewal and global survival.
The afternoon service for Yom Kippur includes the story of Jonah, who was sent by God to Nineveh to urge the people to repent and change their unjust ways in order to avoid their destruction. Today the whole world is Nineveh in danger of annihilation and in need of repentance and redemption, and each one of us must be like Jonah, with a mission to warn the world that it must turn from greed, injustice, and idolatry to avoid global oblivion.

Mari dear,
It´s a completely new experience for me establhishing real and meaningfull connections on the web as I was never prone to Orkut, MSN and even e-mails. But now I am meeting new friends (TRUE friends!!!) all over the world and feeling that I really love this friends almost "at first sight"! It´s so funny because it is so REAL! I feel we have the same vibe and we will be great friends; we have a lot in common already. I lived in Portugal for 5 years (most of the photos I posted were taken there) and it is my second home. I loved your photographs and I can feel your talent for Arts by them. I am myself a photographer (actually I am restarting this career now, after 10 years) and I will post many nice pictures as soon as I scan them (the majority are in slides...).Let me ask you one question: are you jewish? I ask this because I very much admire many aspects of jewish culture and how (the majority...) of jews put their religion into practice in their dailly lives and in sync with the stars. I study Kabbalah and Astrology as well; did you know the word considerate means take in count the siderae (stars)? I would like to suggest you some sites and movies. Here they go:

Watch all movies soon, "they" are taking lots of meaningfull info out of the web due to "bailout" and martial law...). Here it goes:

Dear Mari,
Please allow mw to call you dear, because you are really are! I forgot to mention Cambridge as one of my favourite places in the world, which I love too for it´s "Quartier Latin/Rive Gauche" international atmosphere. The writing I sent to you also vibrate deep in my heart and I am also a free-lancer writer/publisher and artist; that´s why i felt free to call you "my dear". I will put as much beautyfull things in this site and I count on you for helping me doing so. Feel free to write directly to my e-mail jampi2112@gmail.com. I don´t know if you noticed but I slightly changed the name of the site, from Jampi2112 (my nickname and birthday; I felt it was too much ego and to little meaning...) to Jampi2012. The issue of 2012 is very intriguing to me, because I was born in the cusp Sag/Cap and my birthday coincides nearly perfectly with the so called point of shifting. If you can give me some hints on how to post texts and suggests links I would be very grateful. I am adding as many beatyfull songs and nice videos as I can. Please invite your friends to our network, I am l looking forward to start my sharings with lovely souls!
Your sincere friend (I guess, by what you said about Cambridge, the writings and job, nearly brother soul...)

Hello, Mari!
Thank you and wellcome for being the number two in my network. Boston is one of my faviurites cities in the U.S., if not my favourite; I think it has a touch of Europe, is cozier and warmer (at the personal level, obviously...) and also more civilized than NYC. I love Clam Chowder and once I celebrated (a couple of years ago ; ) ) my birthday at The Oyster Bar with a lobster feast. Beacon Hill is one of the coziest palces I ever seen and it´s where I would like to live if I could afford... I have a cousin who has been living in the Boston area for ten years now and works with autistic children at the NECCA (New England Center for Autism; I guess now they changed Autism for Children...). I will do my best to add the widest array of nice stuff I can find to share on various subjects. I am copying a poem and a test I love for you below; I hope you enjoy! If you want to talk to me live, my Skype is jampi2112 and I have Google Talk at jampipereira@gmail.com. I would love to talk to you!

Below is a wonderful poem Audrey Hepburn wrote when asked to share her "beauty tips."
It was read at her funeral years later.

For attractive lips, speak words of kindness.
For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people.
For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry.
For beautiful hair, let a child run his/her fingers through it once a day.
For poise, walk with the knowledge that you never walk alone.
People, even more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, and redeemed; never throw out anyone.
Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, you will find one at the end of each of your arms.
As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands; one for helping yourself, and the other for helping others.

Think Different

Here's to the crazy ones,
the misfits,
the rebels,
the troublemakers.
The round pegs in the square holes.
The ones who see things differently.

They're not fond of rules
and they have no respect
for the status quo.

You can quote them,
disagree with them,
glorify or vilify them.
About the only thing you can't do
is ignore them,
because they change things.
They push the human race forward.

And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius.

Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world
are the ones who do.
